UN: 2700 people killed in Syria

A total of 2700. people, more have been killed in a crackdown the government forces on protesters in Syria, said the Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, on Wednesday (09/21/2011).

Ravina Shamdasani spokesman told AFP that according to latest information, the total number of people killed in the unrest in Syria has increased more than 100 people more, than the previous number of 2,600.

“More than 100 people have been reportedly killed in the week between 12 and 19 September,” he said.

“We continue to receive reports of deaths,” said Shamdasani, without giving more details.

Wild Elephant Attack Refugee Camp in Nepal

Wild elephants rampage and attacked the refugee camps in southeastern Nepal. A total of two elderly people died in the attack and shelter huts damaged.

Bhandari Jhapa District Government Gehanath states, two elephants go to camp established by the UN for refugees from Bhutan this morning and stepped on two people.

Floods in the rainy season makes the elephants fled to Nepal from India. They destroyed the agricultural area and sometimes attacked villagers. Similarly, as reported by AAP on Wednesday (27/07/2011).

Some of the refugees tried to stop the elephant away from the cornfield.

A total of thousands of Bhutanese living in Nepal as refugees since 1990 earlier because they were driven from their homes. The Government also reportedly refused to return the Bhutanese refugees in Nepal. Ethnic tensions also trigger flight of citizens from their country Bhutan.
